CURRENT LEECH LAKE WALLEYE TACTICS

Water temps are climbing quickly and we have been experiencing some good fishing. We recently filmed an episode on Leech Lake with Dusty Minke. We found walleye in 7-10 feet of water and the key was using side imaging to find scattered pods of fish across expansive sand flats. The program was simple, look for areas getting hit by any wind and eliminate unproductive water with the side scan. Once we found fish, we simply spot locked and fan casted 1/8th ounce stand up Fireball Jigs tipped with a small shiner. The key for us was simply making long casts as the fish were spooking off the boat.

We just dropped a new video on YouTube from recent fishing on Devils Lake. The shallow crankbait bite is starting to fire up and should only get better. Really fell in love with the new Northland Rumble Shiner this spring for casting up shallow walleye.
