As we await the first main boat ramp on the Rainy River to open up and be ice free (Nelson Park in Birchdale) a very good informational video has come out about spring fishing on the Rainy River. TJ’s Guide Service is owned by TJ Erickson, a guide originally from the Roseau, MN Area. He initially cut his teeth on Lake of the Woods and on the Rainy River before becoming a teacher in the Park Rapids area.
TJ recently put out a nice video about spring fishing the Rainy River. This video does a nice job of providing helpful tips from locations to tactics.
As we all know, Mother Nature is in ultimate control of when open water will appear. So far, there are spots of open water. Warm temps are in the forecast. Some have been pushing small boats across the ice to access the open water channel.
