Plymouth, WI – June 4, 2009- Anglers Insight Marketing LLC™ (AIM) announced today that BoatUS was called on to redeem its offer of free towing on Saginaw Bay.

On May 22 – 24, 2009, the AIM Pro Walleye Series™ brought teams of 45 Pro Anglers and Co-anglers to Bay City, Michigan. Most of the Pros came to the area at least a week ahead of the tournament to “prefish” in preparation for their chance at the $67,500 purse.

Prior to the tournament, Gary Poirier, owner of the BoatUS marine assistance towing business in Bay City, Caseville, and Au Gres offered a valuable bonus: his company would provide free towing assistance for any of the AIM Pro Walleye Series™ competitors that experienced mechanical problems on the expansive Saginaw Bay. Captain Poirier described the benefits offered by a BoatUS membership (including marine towing and on-the-road trailer assistance) at the pre-event Rules Meeting. He provided his 800-number, cell phone number, and VHF radio contact information to all the Pro Anglers.

As it turned out, BoatUS was called on to provide towing assistance. One of the AIM Pro Anglers, Dave Anderson from Minnesota, heard the information at the Rules Meeting, but missed the contact numbers. Luckily, while fishing near the mouth of the Saginaw River on Day One of the tournament, he saw one of the BoatUS tow boats pass by close enough to see the 800-number on the side and made a note for later.

Unfortunately, Dave Anderson suffered a motor failure later that same day. Miles out on Saginaw Bay, Dave called the BoatUS toll-free number to ask for assistance. The BoatUS office contacted Captain Gary Poirier’s office, who then relayed Dave’s cell phone number to the tow boat. Within minutes, the tow boat had the coordinates of Dave Anderson’s disabled boat and was on the way to offer assistance.

Pro Angler Dave Anderson was able to make contact with another Pro, Mike Gofron from Illinois. Gofron then agreed to transport Dave’s Co-angler back to the AIM weigh-in along with his Official Scorecard in time to register his daily bag – which resulted in third place after Day One! Later, Dave’s Co-angler drove Dave’s truck and trailer to a launch site near the mouth of the Saginaw River where Dave was waiting after his free tow.

AIM would like to thank Captain Gary Poirier of BoatUS for his generous donation of this towing service. This contribution helped AIM exceed the expectations of the Pro Angler participants. Captain Poirier also provided a free one-year membership in BoatUS as a prize to the AIM Pro Walleye Series™. This prize, valued at $67.00, was awarded to the Saginaw Bay Walleye Club which provided invaluable volunteer support to the Bay City tournament.
