The second tournament of the AIM Weekend Walleye Series, presented by Yamaha Outboards and Warrior Boats will be held on Green Bay this Sunday, May 11th.
Anglers are expected to catch record breaking weights of females who have just finished spawning. “The lake is really cold and the fish are bunched up because of it,” explained Wisconsin tournament director Denny Fox. “Breaking 40lbs. has only been done a couple of times, but with the prime conditions we have right now we might push 50lbs! The big girls are hungry and looking for a meal.”

AIM Weekend Walleye Series teammates and brothers Jason and Scott Zelton are stoked about this event. “We plan on ripping up the ‘Bay with our big Yamaha engine looking for warm water and baitfish” said Jason. “That is where the walleyes will be.”

While prefishing with west winds, he reported University Bay to be at 47 degrees; while outside of the river at Oconto was 45 degrees. North and south of Oconto ranged from 39-40 degrees. “The wind will play a role where the warm water will be,” he added.

The new Navionics Plus chip is also expected to play a huge role in their success this weekend. “So far it has been extremely accurate. It has shown me humps and structure that I never knew existed,” commented Jason.

He is also excited to fish a Green Bay tournament using the Catch-Record-Release (CRR) process. While the brothers were a little nervous about photographing and recording their fish properly at their first AIM event in Winneconne, Jason said, “It ended up being a piece of cake!”

Also fishing will be Yamaha pro Robert Blosser and his brother Josh. “I expect most of the fish to be in the lower third to half of the bay,” stated Robert.

With a good crank bite going, he is also counting on his Navionics to help him find key areas holding fish. “The new card is amazing. Traditional mapping software can’t cover every inch of a body of water. With SonarCharts, it takes data uploaded by fishermen and makes updates to the maps by filling in the gaps. This makes it extremely accurate.”

With 90 teams entered as of press time, this event has the potential to reach the maximum number of 100 boats. Entries are due by 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 7th 2014.
The rules meeting has been relocated to the Best Western Green Bay Inn Conference Center.  It will be held in the D2 Sports Pub-Stadium District Room at the hotel at 7:00pm, Saturday, May 10th.

Boats will leave at 7:00am on Sunday, May 11th from Metro Boat Launch in Green Bay and return at 3:00pm.

The awards ceremony will take place at Metro Boat Launch. In the case of inclement weather it will be held at D2 Sports Pub.
