The Yahara Fishing Club announced today that their second annual Ice Fishing Derby will be held on January 18, 2014 at the Green Lantern Restaurant (4412 Siggelkow Rd   McFarland, WI) on Lake Waubesa.

Registration runs from 6am – 10am and fishing starts at 7am.

The purpose of the Derby is to raise money for the club’s kids events.

There are fishing awards ($75 for first, $25 for second and merchandise for kids) for Bass, Walleye, Pike, and 10 panfish.  The Kids category (12 and under) is for the largest single panfish.  Weigh in concludes at 2pm and money prizes will be handed out.

Door prize tickets will be for sale until 2pm and cost $5 or 3 for $10.  The Super Grand Prizes are:  HT 6 person shelter, Clam shelter, Jiffy Pro4 Lite with head cover (supplied by D&S Bait, Tackle and Archery), and a Nebulus Flotation Device.  Other smaller prizes will be awarded compliments of Jiffy, JB Lures, HT, AquaVu, Bait Rigs and Dick Smith’s Bait.  These prizes will be drawn immediately after the weigh in is concluded.  This will all be performed on a professional style stage with Gary Engberg from Outdoor Horizons Radio as the MC.

All WI fishing regulations apply and this is a Free Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin so you don’t need a license.
