Mercury pro Greg Hackney is one of only 49 anglers competing this week for a Bassmaster Classic berth. The Wild Card event accepted up to 175 anglers.

“I dug a little hole for myself today,” said Hackney. “I caught more today than yesterday, but no big fish. The area I am in must have millions of fish. Almost every cast for a while, I was catching them.

“The one thing I am surprised by is that not more guys showed up to fish this tournament. I fish for the Classic all year. If there wasn’t a Classic, I’d probably stay around my home and fish.”
