Names Johnson Communications Director
The North American Gamebird Association has named Dan Johnson to serve as its communications director.
Founded in 1931, the group’s mission is to protect, promote and sustain a positive environment in which game bird producers and hunting preserve operators can grow their businesses through monitoring and influencing of legislation, informing and educating members on current industry trends and issues, and promoting and sustaining our hunting heritage through increased public awareness.
Johnson will oversee production of the association’s internal print publications and digital communications, along with its external outreach and media relations efforts. He will also facilitate communications between NAGA members and one another, as well as with the organization itself.
“We’re looking forward to having Dan on board,” said NAGA president Sam Ballou. “He brings a wealth of experience that will help us reach the organization’s goals.”
A widely published media veteran, Johnson has over 30 years of communications and marketing experience, including editing national publications such as North American Fisherman magazine and the Outdoor News chain of hunting and fishing newspapers.
“I’m honored to have an opportunity to work with an organization that plays such a pivotal role in protecting and promoting the gamebird industry,” said Johnson, whose background also includes the planning and execution of successful print, digital and social platforms geared to serving national member-based organizations including The Bass Federation and North American Fishing Club.
Along with his wife, Julie, Johnson operates All Creation Outdoor Media, which provides content creation and marketing services to a diverse client base. Currently NAGA’s publications are managed by Peg Ballou, and digital communications are managed by Brian Beavers. With Johnson joining the staff, Ballou will assume the chair of the Publications Committee, while Beavers continues as Board Treasurer.
“We greatly appreciate the service that Peg and Brian have given to the association,” added Sam Ballou. “And we’re confident Dan will continue moving NAGA forward into a bright future.”
