SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -Conserving wildlife and the lands that hold what we all enjoy are of the utmost importance. National Hunting and Fishing Day is a day set aside to celebrate all that sportsmen do to support those efforts. This year Bass Pro Shops once again announces its continued, major sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Bass Pro Shops support to NHF Day has benefitted hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen for the past eight years. NHF Day is set to take place on the fourth Saturday in September. This year NHF Day falls on September 27.

“Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris has made giving back to conservation and inspiring people to love and enjoy the outdoors a hallmark of the company since it first began,” said Misty Mitchell, director of conservation programs at Wonders of Wildlife. “Their leadership and continued support has helped put NHF Day at the forefront of making people aware how this country’s hunters and anglers have contributed to conservation.”

Country music star, award-winning TV host and former soldier Craig Morgan is venturing into a new kind of service in 2014, when he will serve as the honorary chairman for National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Morgan is well known as an avid outdoorsman and also takes pride in serving others. He has made ten overseas tours to entertain our troops and received the 2006 USO Merit Award for his tireless support of our U.S. soldiers and their families. The Tennessee native is also host of the award-winning “Craig Morgan All Access Outdoors,” on the Outdoor Channel. The high-octane hit reality show gives viewers an all access, backstage pass to Morgan’s travels as he and his crew pursues big thrills and big laughs across the globe in a quest for the ultimate outdoor adventure.

“Craig Morgan is a great artist, host and proponent for conservation. NHF Day is excited to have such a diverse talent lead NHF Day as the honorary chair,” said Mitchell. “He is constantly promoting good stewardship and conservation, which is what NHF Day is all about.”
