Tommy Skarlis headed out in second place today and was confident  this morning he could catch enough to CRRâ„¢ his way for the win at the first AIM Pro Walleye Series tournament held this weekend out of Bay City, Michigan. Gary Parsons was just as confident he could hold on to his day two lead and take the win.

As Mr. Skarlis weighed in it was clear he would be tough to beat, totaling 100.93 pounds. Gary Parsons was the last to weigh in, and from his on screen CRR images, it was obvious his total was going to be very close to Tommy’s.

It was.

As the total came up on the stage monitor, AIM Emcee Keith Kavajecz announced Mr. Skarlis had taken the win by just 1.21 pounds.

Both Pros were jigging the River early, but Tommy had moved into the main lake for part of the day where Todd Schryer, Tommy’s Co Angler, managed to catch the last fish he needed to take the win, the inaugural AIM tournament trophy, and a check for $27,000.00.

Tommy caught most of his walleyes jigging Lindy X Change Jigs, and other Lindy Jigs that he selected to match the color he needed as conditions on the River or Bay required and Gulp Minnows, and used multiple techniques to take the win. He said in an AIM interview this evening he went back to his room after Parson’s took the lead on day two, reflected on his family and life, and just came out on the final day to go fishing and enjoy the experience.

Gary Parsons was using Fin-Tech Nuckle Ball jigs and Bass Pros Shops Walleye Angler Signature Series XPS Jigs and Gulp around bridges and bridge pilings to catch the majority of his fish.

Third went to Tom Kemos, who made a run at first beginning with a 34.13 pound come- back yesterday, adding 29.48 pounds today. John Kolinski kept his day two fourth place position weighing 28.62 pounds today. Fifth went to Mike Gofron, sixth to Dennis Gulau, seventh to Jason Przekurat, eighth to Chase Parsons, ninth to Chad Schilling, and rounding out the top ten was Keith Kavajecz.

The weigh in at Veterans Memorial Park on the water in Bay City Michigan was attended by several hundred fans, and the entire weigh in was streamed live on the Internet from the AIM website. GPS plotting trails, live video feeds from the water, and taped action from chase boats was featured in the stage presentation as the weigh in progressed. Images from the CRR ( Catch, Record, Release) format were displayed as the Pros and Co Anglers took the stage, also displayed on the live internet feed.

The next event on the four tournament AIM schedule is the Green Bay AIM Pro Walleye Series tournament in conjunction with the Fire on the Fire Over the Fox Festival  July 2nd to the 4th, 2009.
