NPAA Future Angler Event on the Allegheny Reservoir

NPAA Member Brent Long #109 hosted a Future Angler Event on the Allegheny Reservoir in Warren, Pa, on June 23 for the Warren County Disabled American Vets Benefit Walleye Tournament.

The event was held just before the final days weigh- in. Brent covered safety on the water and shoreline, the basics of open and closed faced reels, various baits, fish identification and discussed steps that can be taken to slow the spread of AIS; taking time to walk with the kids and their parents around the boat and trailer checking for aquatic species that should be removed.

The kids also spent some time practicing their casting techniques, casting to a target on the ground. Many thanks to the NPAA for supplying the fishing basics handbook given to each of the kids.
