Owatonna, MN. (April 22, 2013) – With rain and snow falling outside hundreds of walleye anglers made their way to the Cabela’s Walleye Classic in Owatonna, MN for a weekend filled with everything walleye.  Many folks said they are tired of waiting for open water fishing and thought that the Cabela’s Walleye Classic would be a good choice while they wait.

With many of the largest names in the walleye fishing industry such as Babe Winkelman, Bill Shimota, Eric Olson, Chip Leer, Brian “Bro” Brosdahl, Jason Mitchell, Paul Meelen, Kirt Hedquist and many more the seats were packed for informational seminars; in fact it was said there was up to 140 people at Babe Winkelman’s seminar.  This was all followed up by an All Star Walleye School Pro Panel that brought great reviews by all who attended.

Many kids who made their way out to the Walleye Classic were also able to take part in a Kids Fishing Clinic that was hosted by the National Professional Anglers Association.  Professional Walleye Anglers such as Jim Peters, Nancy Koep, Jeff Otis, Scott Ludwig, Stephen and Breda Picht, were all in attendance to teach the kids about fishing safety, knot tying, basic rigging, and many more skill needed for fishing.  The kids were treated to a Go Fishing Educational Book and a rod and reel package.  This event went over really well and many kids were able to leave with a smile on their face and a new found love for fishing thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association and their great members.

Cabela’s plans to hold another kids fishing event on June 8th at their pond with the help of the National Professional Anglers Association and their members as they have in the past; for more information on this event and many more like it visit www.cabelas.com/owatonna
