MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (January 7, 2015) – Minn Kota, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric trolling motors, will remain an official sponsor of the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour in 2015. The renewal signals yet another strong addition to the group of sponsors already committed to the NWT for the upcoming season.

“Minn Kota builds an excellent product and is a well respected brand among anglers everywhere,” said NWT Tournament Director Anthony Wright. “They’ve also been a key sponsor of the NWT from the beginning. We’re fortunate to have their support and look forward to another season together.”

Since its founding, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology. The Minn Kota electric trolling motor began its life in 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota. Mr. O. G. Schmidt, inventor of the trolling motor, was known to be a man of many diverse ideas. Prior to the trolling motor, Mr. Schmidt invented, produced and sold a copper-soldering torch from his home in Wheatland, North Dakota.

Due to its success, manufacturing operations were then moved to Fargo. Because of its proximity to the MINNesota – North DaKOTA border, Mr. Schmidt named the business The Minn Kota Manufacturing Company.

“We’re proud to support the National Walleye Tour,” said Minn Kota Marketing Director Joe Brown. “We’re passionate about walleye and multi-species angling and this is the absolute top level of the sport. This is a great opportunity to show our support to a key group of customers and look forward to the upcoming season.”

The National Walleye Tour will begin the 2015 season May 8 at Lake City, Minnesota, and will include a total of three qualifying events, plus a year-end championship. Official registration for all events will being Jan 5, 2015, both online and by phone. The NWT website offers numerous details on the circuit, including official rules, tournament structure, payout and incentives.

All 2015 NWT events feature 100% payback. A fully rigged Ranger Boat, plus cash, is guaranteed for first place at each event – a minimum total value of $57,000. Multiple contingency programs are available for even higher payout. Anglers that fish all three regular-season events, in addition to the top points leaders, will qualify for the three-day, entry-fee championship.

The Cabela’s National Walleye Tour also includes unmatched television and media coverage, allowing a national audience to watch the action unfold from each event throughout the season. Airing on multiple networks, the NWT will be seen on the Pursuit Channel, NBC Sports Network and Fox Sports Net North.
