NPAA member, Greg Karch #138, Certified Angler Educator with Learn 2 Fish With Us hosted a fishing seminar that introduced youth to fishing during the Chicago Muskie Expo.  The event was held on Sunday, January 11th at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.  Over sixty youth and their parents attended the seminar.   The seminar started with Lakken, who is seven years old, explaining to the crowd what fishing means to him.  In 2014, Lakken caught three muskies!!!  Greg then presented his ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar which reviewed fishing safety, spin cast and spinning combos, setting the hook, casting, knots, fish identification, bait, catch and release, and the AIS message of ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’.   After the seminar, the Illinois Musky Trail presented awards to youth that caught muskies in 2014.   Once this was completed, every youth that attended the seminar, received a fishing combo or a Future Pro Shirt which was donated by the National Professional Anglers Association and the Future Angler Foundation.  You should have seen all the smiles on the youth faces as they were receiving their fishing combo or shirt!!!

Greg would like to thank the NPAA and Future Angler Foundation for the fishing goodies, Lakken and the Illinois Musky Trail for their help,  and all Greg’s personal sponsors which include: Dave’s Musky Club, Shakespeare, Berkley, Plano, Mercury, Triton Boats, The Boat Doc, Off Shore Tackle Company, Northland Tackle, TTI Blakemore Fishing Group, Navionics, Maui Jim and The Reel Shot.
