Future Anglers Introduced To Fishing at The Wisconsin Fishing Expo
Greg Karch, Certified Angler Educator with Learn 2 Fish With Us and NPAA Member hosted a future angler seminar on Saturday and Sunday at the Wisconsin Fishing Expo. The Fishing Expo was held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
On Saturday, Keagan who is ten, kicked off the Greg’s seminar by talking about what fishing
means to him along with his favorite fishing trip from the past year. Keagan has attended many of Greg’s Fishing Clinics and has learned all the skills needed to fish. Greg then presented his Fishing Basics seminar which reviewed fishing safety, spin cast and spinning combos, setting the hook, casting, knots, fish identification, bait, catch and release, and the AIS message of ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’. What the parents liked about clinic was that no one would be using a computer or phone as Greg’s Fishing Basics seminar is all hands on!!! The youth also learned that each of them was going to receive a Shakespeare fishing combo thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association!!! You should have seen all the smiles when we handed them their fishing combo.
On Sunday, Greg was on the Plano Frabill stage where he presented his Fishing Basics seminar. Greg thought this may have been the most engaged crowd he has ever had. Many of the youth and parents attending the seminar asked many questions on the different fishing skills and the youth were eagle to participate in the hands on training. After the Fishing Basics seminar the youth each received an National Professional Angler Association Future Pro shirt. Tim Euting and Greg were asked to sign many of the youths Future Pro shirts!! After the seminar many of the parents came up to Greg and expressed their thanks and let him know they learned a thing or two…
