September 17, 2008 Baxter, MN It's a party; it's a celebration, its walleye history in the making.  After a ground-breaking eighteen year run, the tournament trail that brought professional walleye fishing to the forefront, In-Fisherman's Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) will hold its final event in Hudson, Wisconsin on October 15 – 17th.

In this historic event, the Lowrance/Optima Batteries Pro-Am, anglers will search the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers for the walleye and sauger that will put their share of over $200,000 in cash and prizes in their pocket.  At the same time anglers will be competing for the $44,000 Starcraft Marine Angler-of-the-Year prize as well as a place in the PWT Championship Shoot-Out with a guaranteed $50,000 first prize.

But probably more importantly, each angler that competes will be writing his or her name in the record books and fishing along side such PWT greats as Mark Martin, Ron Seelhoff, Keith Kavajecz,  Mike Gofron Gary Parsons,  Tommy Skarlis, and many more.  This will be the final opportunity for any angler to compete at a PWT or earn the title of  Professional Walleye Trail Champion ever again as the PWT will not conduct a circuit in 2009.

The PWT has provided a platform for the world's greatest walleye fisherman to showcase their skills and launch careers.   The best anglers in the walleye world that are now familiar names all started on the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail.  Walleye greats such as Steve Fellegy, Mike McCelland, Gary Roach, John Peterson, Chad Hall and Bob Propst Sr., all established careers at the PWT.   For the historic walleye buff that wants to experience walleye history or for the young anglers that want to establish themselves and fish aside the hottest sticks in North America, the Lowrance/Optima Batteries Pro-Am is your last opportunity to be a PWT pro.

This event will be part of the Spirit of the St. Croix Days celebration being held in Lakefront Park in Hudson.  Anglers will return each day to huge crowds and still have time to get in on some of the great events that make this one of the premier fall festivals in the country.
