March 17, 2012 marks the Capital City Chapter of Muskies Inc.’s 11th Annual Advanced and Intermediate Muskie School. Last year’s school attracted 300 attendees and organizers are planning for even more this year.
Tuition for adults is $32 (early bird special) and $42 after March 12. Youth tuition is $5 (18 and under). This school is an incredibly useful and affordable opportunity to help muskie anglers learn about muskie fishing and to prepare for the 2012 season. The Muskie School is held at Waunakee High School in Waunakee, WI and we will be utilizing an expanded Commons, pool, Performing Arts Center, auditorium and twelve classrooms. The entrance to the school will be marked with a boat! Doors open at 7:30am with coffee and donuts, muskie talk and CCMI’s own Muskie Video. This is followed by a welcome and a short debate on the merits of Statewide Trolling.
The first two blocks of classes will be completed before a great catered lunch and Mini-Sessions will be available to those that want to make it a “working lunch”.
After lunch the last block of classes (1-2:30) will be followed by the evaluation hand-in, school summary and raffles (regular and Super-raffle) with many great prizes. Rod/reel combos will be distributed to youth compliments of the National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA). Capital City Muskies pay for the raffle prizes and if funds are leftover, they are donated to stocking muskies in the Madison Lakes.
The class offerings are very comprehensive with some new classes added this year. Pool demonstrations of retrieval techniques and a variety of baits are very popular. Hands on classes for rod building, wooden lure making, bucktail and spinnerbait making and boat rigging for those that like to do it themselves. You can also stay up to date on all the cutting edge electronics to help you increase your success rate.
If you want to know more about trolling, fishing the Wisconsin River, Madison Lakes or Canadian waters this is a great opportunity. There is even a Muskie Fishing Basics class for young and old.
This year’s faculty has accumulated over 500 years of muskie fishing experience and their goal here at the school is to help you put more fish in your boat during the 2012 season, and includes Steve Worrall, NPAA Muskie Angler recruiter and Member, who was instrumental in getting this school off the ground more than a decade ago.
