The weather did a complete turnaround Sunday on Day Two of the Hartman Series Mille Lacs Muskie tournament. The howling NW winds of the last few days died off to near calm by mid morning out of the south east, and the skies clearedfor the first time in days. The muskies responded predictably, but therewere a few windows of opportunity for most of the teams.

 45″ Mille Lacs Muskie

Tengwall and Frank called in a 44″ mid day, displacing Jensen and  Ronnestrand from second place. That held until an hourbefore tournament hours ended when Luke was waving as Paul Hartmanmotored by, and set the hook at the same time boating a thick 45″ toadd to their day one 41″ and regain second place taking home a checkfor $1600.00. Tengwal and Frank’s 44″ was good enough for third and acheck for $1000.00

Patrick Cotter and Dave Organ didn’t score aMuskie Sunday, but the 50″ and 42.75″ fish they boated on Day One wereeasily enough to take first place and a check for $2600.00. They boateda 53″ hog during prefish on Friday as well; so much for the ‘toughbite’ reputed to be holding down the Mille Lacs Lake Muskie action.

The teams all fished hard, seeing multiple fish and missingmany. As Paul Hartman said during the awards ceremony, ifthe field had been full a record would most certainly have been set.

The next Hartman Series Tournament will be held on Cass Lake October 10th and 11th, 2009.
