How and Why to Use a Spud Bar on Early Ice

Checking ice conditions in central North Dakota in late November 2021. Some small lakes have four to six inches of ice where as the larger lakes have some open water. A spud bar or ice chisel is very important right now for checking ice. Use a spud bar properly to stay safe on the ice.
