FLIPPIN, ARK. (March 26, 2015) – Teams competing for the 2015 Ranger Cup University Team of the Year title will be doing so on some of the most renowned big-bass waters in the United States. This year’s winner-take-all event, slated for September 23-25, will be contested at Florida’s legendary Bienville Plantation.

The Ranger Cup University Team of the Year Challenge pits the Ranger Cup-qualified team with the highest place of finish in the FLW College Fishing National Championship
against the Ranger Cup-qualified team with the highest place of finish in BoatUS College Bass Fishing Championship. The two teams will receive a prize package that includes an expenses-paid trip to Bienville Plantation where they will square off against each other in a made-for-TV fish-off that will be televised nationally on a future episode of “Americana Outdoors.”

In addition to travel, lodging and meals, each team’s grand-prize package will also include the chance to compete for cash and prizes, making the event a true once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. As an added bonus, both teams vying for the Team of the Year title on Bienville Plantation’s trophy-rich lakes will be doing so from fully rigged, tournament-ready Ranger boats.

“We’ve taken this event to some tremendous fisheries, to both public and private water, but it will be hard to top Bienville Plantation in terms of big-fish potential and world-class accommodations,” said Wade Middleton, host of “Americana Outdoors” and President of Careco TV, which produces the show. “Once again, we’re expecting two teams of tremendously talented anglers. Considering the quality of fish at Bienville, I expect the episode that results from the event to be must-see TV.”

Bienville Plantation, located near the town of White Springs, Fla., just an hour west of Jacksonville, Fla., is home to some of America’s finest bass-fishing waters. The operation caters to sportsmen and women, as well as families and corporate groups, offering unsurpassed sporting opportunities and first-class accommodations.

Bienville Plantation’s trophy fishing lakes are the results of longtime phosphate mining in the area, with each lake varying in size, depth, water clarity and amounts of cover. Bienville is best known for consistently producing incredible quantities of trophy-sized, Florida-strain largemouth bass from its thousands of acres of mineral-rich waters. The Bienville Plantation record for a Florida-strain largemouth bass is 15.68 pounds.

College anglers still have time to participate in the Ranger Cup University program and potentially qualify for the Ranger Cup University Team of the Year Challenge. The FLW College Fishing National Championship runs April 16-18 on South Carolina’s Lake Murray. The BoatUS College Bass Fishing Championship is scheduled for May 20-22 on Lake Pickwick in Alabama.

The program, designed exclusively for collegiate anglers, is open to those fishing in either FLW- or BoatUS-affiliated competitions. Signup is free, regardless of which brand of boat the anglers own or use. To remain qualified in the program, anglers need only adhere to simple clothing and logo requirements.
