JULY 17, 2012-MINNETONKA, MN-Over 9,900 acres of tackle-busting bass fishing plus the chance for a much thicker wallet await teams when the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit continues its 2012 season on Minnesota’s bass-rich Gull Lake Chain.

Coming up Saturday, August 4, the single-day, team-format tournament is open to all anglers regardless of club or sponsor affiliation. Teams will launch at 7 a.m. from Cragun’s Resort Marina, and by the 3 p.m. weigh-in whoever brings in the heaviest 5-bass basket walks away with a $10,000 paycheck, (based on 50-boat field) plus a shot at sponsor contingencies and big fish cash.

Cabela’s NABC payouts are based on the number of teams entered in each event. At last count, the Gull Lake payout was already at $14,800 in cash-including $7,400 cash for first place. The sponsor bonuses up for grabs could total an additional $9,860 from Cabela’s, Stratos Boats, Ranger Boats, Bomber, Booyah Bait Co., Optima, Oxygenator, Sufix, Trigger X, XCalibur and YUM.

Local families and bass fans of all ages are also invited to join the fun at weigh-in, held at Cragun’s Resort beginning at 3 p.m, when more than 70 of the Midwest’s best bass anglers bring their baskets to the Cabela’s NABC stage. Weigh-in spectators will be treated to a steady stream of bass, along with exciting stories and valuable fishing tips from the tournament anglers. Plus, kids ages 12 and under will receive t-shirts and the Cabela’s NABC and National Professional Anglers Association will raffle off free fishing tackle throughout the event.

This is the third stop on the NABC’s 2012 season. The final qualifier will be September 8 at Leech Lake, Minnesota, out of Trappers’ Landing Lodge near Walker. Teams fishing two or more NABC tournaments a season compete for berths in the NABC World Bass Championship, set for October 5-6 on Pools 4 and 5 of the Mississippi River.
