More deer killed in Missouri this season than 2017-18

Hunters killed 290,339 whitetails during Missouri’s various deer hunting seasons in 2018-2019.

The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that’s more deer than were taken in the 2017-2018 season (284,477 whitetails) but below the record 313,254 deer killed in 2012-2013.

The top-producing counties were Franklin, with 5,826 deer taken; Callaway with 5,545 deer killed and Howell with 5,350 deer killed.

Hunters in Greene County killed 2,824 deer, with 2,134 taken in Christian County, 2,167 killed in Taney County, 1,656 in Stone County, 3,159 in Dallas County, 2,767 in Webster County, 2,860 in Polk County and 2,443 in Cedar County.

Of the season’s tally, 136,776 deer were antlered bucks, 30,116 were button bucks and 123,447 were does.

Deer hunting ended with the close of the archery season. Preliminary data from MDC showed that hunters checked 54,447 deer during the archery season.
