The rut lock down (lockdown) phase is very real and if you don’t understand it, you may believe that the annual whitetail rut has already passed you by. The annual rut lock down phase occurs when a large number of does begin to experience entrus. This is not a time when all of the area does enter estrus, but just enough does do, to keep nearly all of the local bucks happpy.
