Yep, another sport fishing company is hitting the market with a rod-and-reel combo for bass, walleye, and crappie. Not huge news, but when it’s Vexan producing the combo, you know you’ll be getting top-notch product at a very reasonable price.
So, why combos from Vexan? James Haworth, the Big Cheese at Vexan, replied to a few questions to answer why Vexan is jumping into the combo fray.

Why did you develop these combos?

JH – We made these less expensive combos for people on a budget.  They are very popular with college and high school kids, or parents who want a buy a quality rod for their kids and want to take them to the next step, but don’t want to spend $300 on a rod and reel.

Is it a combo usable for multi-species?

JH – It sure is. A lot of bass gear is applicable to other species.

How do you compare the quality of Vexan StrikeBack Combos to other brands/combos?

As far as a comparison, we think they are better than other combos.  Lots of that is due to the fact we do not overcharge for our tackle as we do not advertise like others do.  That builds a lot of cost into the product.  For example, a $150 combo from a big manufacturer might have as much as $25 of advertising built in. So, our $125 combo would be similar quality, but at a lower retail price.
