Veteran Ron Gazvoda Leads Day Two at Devils

Veteran In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail angler Ron Gazvoda, Lakewood, Col., took over the day two lead at Devils Lake, ND. They were competing in the Outdoor Channel/Berkley Pro-Am, which runs through Friday, May 26.Gazvoda has been fishing the PWT since 2002, and has a $66,000 victory on Bay de Noc at Escanaba, Mich., in 2004. He weighed 25 pounds on day one and 31 pounds today. He leads second place pro and Devils Lake guide Jason Feldner, Minnewaukan, ND, by two pounds. Third place pro Brian Bjorkman, Fargo, ND, is 11 pounds behind Feldner. Day one pro leader Keith Carlson, Goodhue, Minn., dropped to ninth place.After two days of this tournament, one of the Regional Series events presented by MotorGuide, 92 pros of the 119 have landed 5-fish limits each day. The average weight is nearly three pounds.The Coleman Big Fish of the tournament pushed the scales over 10 pounds. Pro Rick Zachowski, Milwaukee, Wis., and amateur partner Greg Pregrocki, Libertyville, Ill., weighed a 10.08-pounder.Amateur/co-angler Dallas Marchus, Fessenden, ND, extended his lead to three pounds over second place amateur Tony Omit, Elk River, Minn. If he holds onto his top position, Marchus will win a Lund/Mercury walleye boat valued at $15,000. The winning pro collects a first place prize of $55,000.After a cold front during the night, heavy over-cast greeted the field. By 1 p.m., the sun nudged temperatures from the low 60-degree range to the mid-70’s.
