Tim Euting and Cameron Lewis put two consistent days together weighing 23.98 pounds to take the Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament WIN and the check for $13,000.00.

Less than a pound behind was Joe Abendroth and Justin Kohn weighing 22.58. Third went to Kyle Harmsen and Joseph Durant, who put 21.48 pounds in the livewell. Fourth went to Gary Henschel and Wayne Hoelzel with 20.88, fifth to Day One leaders Bill Mongin and Chad Mongin, sixth to Michael Galligan and Stuart Wells, seventh to Jon Janiak and Brian Smit, eighth to Tom Hoinacki and Brian Ball, ninth to Hugh Mc Aloon and William McAloon, and the top ten was rounded out by Chad Bohn and Clarence Bohn. Fifth through tenth were separated by six tenths of a pound, indicating how consistent the fish sizes really were.

As usual, success on Winnebago had as much to do with finding fish willing to eat as anything, and the fish are widely scattered.

The average fish this weekend was about 16.5″, and was, according to the DNR, more probably than not an immature female. The majority of the larger fish are still up above due to the late Spring, high water, and readily available food. Most reports from the north side of Winnebago were positive today, but overall, the fish were not too far from that 16.5 average.

Many of the teams are fishing otter Street next week, so details were somewhat guarded, but the NW corner of Winnebago and shallow water seemed to be mentioned quite a bit.
