The Midwest Walleye Series Championship was held on the Bay of Green Bay on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The top 25 Teams for the year qualify for the Championship. TRS/JJKFT sponsors three teams and they all made the Championship with 2nd, 4th and 10th place point totals from the 4 qualifying Tournaments. 156 Teams fished the MWS. This is a catch & release series!

Pre-fishing was very, very tough with no fish until Friday. Jim & Bill teamed up on Friday morning, headed to a spot Brian and John heard had possibilities, caught a few, and this aided the winning programs on Saturday! TEAMWORK!

Facing small craft wind warnings, fog, 39 degrees and a flat tire on Jim’s trailer (son Brian came to the rescue) at 6 am started the day off. Teams fished from 7 am-2 pm within a restricted lake zone due to the horrible conditions. Teams could weigh a maximum of 3 walleyes.

What a day it was! John Schneider & Bill Bobber took 1st with 10.44 lbs., Brian Keller & Larry Eaton took 2nd with 10.2 lbs., and Jim Keller & Travis Dittmann took 4th and won the Big Fish Award with a 6.82 lb. walleye! 11 teams zeroed. Jim & Travis qualified for the Championship in 2011 and took 10th!

Nice cash prizes, plaques and door prizes were awarded at the Championship Banquet held at the Rock Garden Inn Saturday night.
