Ranger Mercury Pro, Don Denning (NPAA #140) and his son Jacob Denning, both of Fargo along with his nephew Nathan Denning of Gackle, ND, caught five walleyes weighing over 20lbs to win the Angler Young Angler Regional event on Devils Lake hosted by FM Walleyes Unlimited, Inc.,  and the Lake Region Anglers Association on July 9th. Team Denning pitched Northland mimic minnows and #5 shad raps along the edge of weeds and cattails. They utilized the spot lock feature of their Minn Kota motor to hold the position of their Ranger in the wind to effectively work certain fish holding areas. Another key to their success was the use of Lake Master chips to find key fish holding structure and identify underwater hazards in the flooded Devils Lake. Jacob Denning sealed the win for the team by boating a 6lb walleye within the last hour of competition. With the win, the excited trio has earned a spot at the Angler Young Angler International Championships to be held in Kenora, Ontario on August 13th, 2011.

The Champions took home a new 12′ LUND boat, 5 hp MERCURY outboard motor, with a SHORELANDR’ trailer.  In addition, the team won a set of tackle bags, binoculars, trolling rod & reel combos along with $500 cash to offset their expenses when they travel to Kenora to compete in the International Angler Young Angler Championship’s in August.

Don Denning is sponsored by Ranger Boats, Mercury Outboards, SCHEELS, Northland Fishing Tackle and Rays Marine & Outdoors.
