The South Dakota Walleye Classic Tournament committee has offered three paid entries to the winners of the Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota Governors Cup fishing tournaments.  “With the change in format to a team event last year, we want to focus on more regional anglers” says George Kessler, tournament director.

The event will be held August 9-11and will again launch from the Swan
Creek boat ramp near Akaska. The Team pay outs will total $60,000 based
Upon a full field of 60 boats. The co-angler payouts will total over
$7,500. The entry fee will be $1,000 per team and $300 per co-angler.

Kessler is hopeful that by offering the winners of those events free entry that it will give the South Dakota Walleye Classic better exposure to regional anglers.

“Our new format of a co-angler fishing with a two man team seems to be working quite well” says Kessler. He went on to say “the idea was given to us by pro-angler Brett King last year and we think it’s going to catch on”.

Kessler added “with higher price gas, we think that it will be better to market our tournament to more of a regional vs. national angler but all are invited to fish”
