Robert Blosser

1-Briefly describe yourself: hometown, age, family, career?

I am 32 years old, originally from St. Charles Illinois, but have been living in Poynette Wisconsin for the last 20 years. I have been married for 9 years to Katie and we had our first child 2 years ago, a daughter who we named Addysen. My wife and I have worked and managed our family business of pet aftercare (www.mcsofwi.com)for the last 8 years.

2-What was your reason for joining the NPAA?

I joined the NPAA in 2004 or 2005 with the assumption this was a “walleye club” boy was I wrong. What I had joined was a express lane to the knowledge of the best walleye fisherman in the country. Not only was everyone willing and happy to help  with any questions I had but there were also immediate friendships formed that no price can be put on.

3-Has the NPAA helped you in your career as a professional angler?

I can say the NPAA and its members are responsible in some way or another for ALL my achievements in the fishing industry.

4-How long have you been fishing? Do you fish tournaments or guide?

I have been fishing since a youngster and thank my grandfather and father for introducing me to the outdoors. I do fish tournaments and guide, but my guiding is more of an educational session than a day of just catching fish. I like my clients to walk away at the end day with a new technique or better understanding of their electronics. Something that they will use for the rest of their life on the water. Not just a bag of filets for dinner.

5-Do you have any fishing idols or mentors?

My Grandpa would need the credit for introducing me to walleyes, now the green carp credit goes to my dad!…..sorry pops

6-Who do you enjoy fishing with the most?

Most defiantly my family.

7-If you could fish with anyone who would it be?

I would like to have one more day with my grandma, unfortunately she passed before I won my first major, but I know she was watching and smiling as WE did it.

8-What is your most memorable moment in fishing?

Gots to be winning the AIM Angler of the Year in 2010, with a win in Green Bay following a close second.

9- What is a must have in your boat; don’t leave the dock without?

Tunes…Gotta have a radio in the boat or I will go nuts.

10- What is your strength as an angler?

First I would say contour trolling lead core, and handlining. Second would be understanding my electronics and its functions.

11-What is your weakness as an angler?

Anything to do with a jig…….lol

12-Who are your sponsors?

Yamaha Outboards, Skeeter Boats, Offshore Tackle, Bushnell Ford, and Mack’s Lures.

13-What tournaments do you fish or what lakes do you guide on the most?

I fish the AIM and FLW tournaments and do most of my guiding on Lake Wisconsin

14-Someday you would like to???

Own a sail boat and cruise the BVI’s for a few months a year.

15-What would your fellow anglers/competitors, say stands out the most about you?

I hope it would be my work ethic, early to the ramp, late leaving the ramp. This is where I feel being young has its advantages; I can put in 12 hour days on the water and still feel good. It’s kinda like the cold windy rainy days when everyone else is in their hotel room and were out fishin.

16-In what ways do you promote angling?

I attend the boat and fishing shows in the winter to represent my sponsors and conduct seminars. In the summer I participate and help organize multiple kids/youth events, now those are a blast! I am also a newly elected board member of the NPAA and couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity.

17-What is the biggest fish you have ever caught?

I would have to say a bull mahi that was just shy of 75# caught in St. Maarten in 2006

18-Where can people find out more about you? Such as Facebook and websites etc…….

www.robertblosser.com
Along with facebook.

19-Outside of fishing what other hobbies do you enjoy?

I really have a blast bow hunting and now that its winter I shoot a indoor archery league with my brothers to pass the time, no bucket sitting for this guy!

20-What advice do you have for those considering fishing in tournaments or guiding?

If your going to try and make this a full time job don’t just dip your toe, dive in head first and get after it. It can be done!
