NPAA members Brendon Woodruff #782, Ken Clark #549, Brian Erler #774, Chet Babcock #534, and Dan Hassevoort #177 worked with the White Lake Area Sportfishing Association (WLASA) in Whitehall, Michigan to help with the annual youth fishing derby. This year there was 157 kids who participated in the event. The kids fished until 12 noon where then then weighed in their fish and had the opportunity to see where they placed on the live leader board.

After the weigh in lunch was served followed by a presentation where the AIS clean drain and dry speech was given along with some angler education provided by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources; where kids learned about being safe while on the water and also about protecting the fishing population. When that was all said and done prizes were awarded for biggest and smallest fish in three different age categories.

Every kid in attendance was able to walk away with a goodie bag filled with various fishing products. This event was held on Saturday, June 6th, 2014 from 7:00am until 12:00noon.

Brendon would like to thank all the volunteers who helped, his sponsors, including the NPAA and: Church Tackle Company, Big Weenie Brand LLC, Torpedo Divers, Fish Freak Outfitters, Lift Off Hockey Sporting Goods and Apparel.
