Devils Lake, ND – 2012 Scheels Walleye University Schedule
Once again, Scheels will be hosting the Walleye University tour in 2012 and this year will be more exciting than ever. There are eight stops in seven states; surely there is one close to every walleye enthusiast in the upper mid-west. Johnnie Candle is still your instructor and is excited to be returning.
“After 12 years, presenting Walleye University is still one of the most enjoyable parts of my job as a professional angler. Sharing what I have learned over the years is a big part of what I do; hearing how it has helped folks catch more walleye makes it even better,” states Johnnie.
This year marks a return to where it all started. The first Walleye University was presented by Johnnie Candle and long time friend Dan Bonham in Bismarck. It was April of 2000 and little did they know the class would still be going strong over a decade later. Walleye University has undergone many changes and hosted several guest speakers, but it still covers as much fish catching information as you can fit in eight hours.
“I work hard to make sure the material covered in Walleye University changes with the times. The basics stay the same; jigs, rigs, spinners, and cranks, but every year something new develops on the trail and we cover those trends too.”
The fishing industry changes almost as fast as the weather, Walleye University is a great way to stay on top of those changes, meet new friends, and learn ways to catch more fish.
