NPAA member Greg Karch #138 and Certified Angler Instructor CAI #1006 hosted a Future Angler Event for the cub scouts of Kaukauna, Wisconsin.  The event started out at St Abe’s School where Greg presented his Fishing Basics seminar which introduced the cub scouts to the following fishing components: safety, open- and closed-face fishing combos and how to cast each of them, fishing identification, knots, bait, parts of a fish,  fishing techniques, catch and release and conservation.   Near the end of the event the AIS message was reviewed, of ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’.

Once the seminar was completed they headed to 1000 Islands for some fishing.  Every cub scout was able to fish as Greg had additional fishing combo’s for the cub scouts to use.  Many of the cub scouts caught a fish or two.

Every cub scout went home with a fishing related items, thanks to sponsors of the event.

Sponsors of this event included NPAA, Future Angler Foundation,  Dave’s Musky Club, Shakespeare, Berkley, Plano, Mercury, Lake-Link, Triton Boats, The Boat Doc, Off Shore Tackle Company, Northland Tackle, TTI Blakemore Fishing Group, Navionics, Maui Jim, Big Eye Custom Lures.  The Reel Shot provided all the bait for the event.  Together we are growing the sport of fishing!!!

Many events bringing new people into the sport of fishing-both youth and adults-are supported through the 501c3 non-profit organization Future Angler Foundation. Through charitable contributions, the FAF purchases needed items for programs like this and helps skilled anglers teach others about one of the best sports a person can ever learn: fishing. It is a sport that can last a lifetime.
