Cabela’s National Walleye Tour Opens 2013 Season on Mississippi River, April 26-27

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (April 17, 2013) – Competitive walleye anglers will converge on the Mississippi River at Red Wing, Minn., as the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour kicks off their inaugural season on April 26-27. Featuring a pro-am style format, the all-new tournament circuit will include a total of three regular-season events with a year-end championship.
The Red Wing event begins Thursday, April 25, with tournament registration from 2-4 p.m. at Treasure Island Resort and Casino (5734 Sturgeon Lake Rd., Welch, MN 55089) with a mandatory meeting set to start at 5:00 p.m. Pro and co-angler pairings will be announced at the mandatory meeting.
Anglers will launch at safe light from Bay Point Park (1429 Levee Rd., Red Wing, MN 55066) and return to the same location for the weigh-ins each day. Weigh-in times will be announced at the mandatory meeting.
Anglers who are participating in any of the numerous contingency prize programs are encouraged to submit all pertinent information before the event to remain eligible for any potential bonus money.
Each NWT tournament features over 100% payback. A fully rigged Ranger Boat, plus cash, is guaranteed for first place at each event – a total value of $57,000. Anglers that fish all three regular season events, in addition to the top points leaders, will qualify for the three day, entry-fee Championship.
The new circuit also includes unprecedented television and media coverage, allowing a national audience to watch the action unfold from each event throughout the season. Airing on multiple networks, the National Walleye Tour will be seen on The Texas Channel, World Fishing Network, Pursuit Channel, as well as the new NBC Sports Network.
