NPAA and Bago walleye Club Members Team Up to Host Future Angler Event To introduce youth and Families to Fishing

NPAA members Greg Karch #138,  Sean Freund #295, Louie Apitz #896, Dave Van Oss #45, Craig Huss #262, Tom Nelson#567 and Bago Walleye Club members Larry Strehlow, Pauly Paul, Wayne Horn and Dave Allen Hosted a Future Angler Event to introduce youth and families to fishing.  The event was held at Maplewood Middle School in Menasha, Wisconsin on May 16th.   The event was kicked off with the families enjoying a pizza dinner.  Then the families attended fishing stations that covered; safety, open and closed spinning combo’s, knots, bait, parts of a fish, fish identification, casting, musky fishing, fishing presentations and aquatic invasive species.  After families attended all the fishing educational stations the casting contest award was given to Bill.  All the youth that attended, received a fishing combo or shirt.

Thanks to the sponsors of the event which were NPAA, Future Angler Foundation,  Dave’s Musky Club, City of Menasha School District, Heckrodt Nature Preserve, Shakespeare, Berkley, Plano, Mercury, Lake-Link, Triton Boats, The Boat Doc, Off Shore Tackle Company, Northland Tackle, TTI Blakemore Fishing Group, Navionics, Maui Jim, Big Eye Custom Lures and The Reel Shot.

Many events bringing new people into the sport of fishing-both youth and adults-are supported through the 501c3 non-profit organization Future Angler Foundation. Through charitable contributions, the FAF purchases needed items for programs like this and helps skilled anglers teach others about one of the best sports a person can ever learn: fishing. It is a sport that can last a lifetime.
