NORTHLAND FISHING TACKLE NAMES LEER PRODUCT MANAGER
INDUSTRY VETERAN EXCITED TO LEAD NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Bemidji, Minn. – Northland Fishing Tackle has tapped industry veteran Chip Leer to serve as product manager and lead the charge in continuing the company’s 40-year tradition of creating fish-catching products.

A well-known and widely traveled multispecies expert, Leer has been a member of Team Northland since 1988. In his new role, Leer will work with Northland’s extensive network of hard-fishing pro staffers to develop the next generations of industry-leading jigs, rigs, softbaits, spoons, spinnerbaits, line, terminal tackle and accessories.

“Chip’s fishing experience and enthusiasm for our sport is the perfect fit for our ‘Made by Fishermen for Fishermen’ culture,” says Northland brand manager Eric Naig. “We’re excited to have Chip lead our new product development process and can’t wait to see the next innovations coming from Northland Fishing Tackle.”

Given his long relationship with Northland and his passion for fishing, Leer was excited at the chance to help forge future fishing breakthroughs.

“I’ve been involved in the company’s product-development process for nearly three decades, and am most excited about the opportunity to guide these visions into becoming reality that ultimately help people catch more fish,” Leer said.

Leer launched his career in the 1980s guiding anglers on the hallowed waters of northern Minnesota hotspots such as Leech Lake, Kabetogama and Lake of the Woods. He will continue to work from his Walker, Minn., headquarters, where he operates Fishing the WildSide, a marketing and communications company.

In addition to his responsibilities with Northland Fishing Tackle and other industry clients, Leer serves as Interim Director of the Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame, Host of the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour, and fishes extensively, competing in numerous regional tournaments.
