Wareham, Mass.  Navionics, the leader in electronic charting and digital navigation data, is pleased to announce that it’s electronic fishing charts and PC mapping products are now available for purchase at numerous Dick’s Sporting Goods locations throughout the U.S., a leading retailer of outdoor lifestyle equipment and accessories. The addition of the Navionics product line to the shelves of this key partner reaffirms the growing public acceptance of, and demand for, quality Location Based Service content such as fishing and outdoor maps for use in consumer GPS products according to Jeff Brodeur, Navionics Inland Sales Manager.

The industry continues to see enormous improvements in the user-friendliness of GPS units that are either stand alone devices or part of smartphone functionality. Brodeur says GPS unit pricing continues to drop while the user experience and value for the customer increases. GPS users are creating new demand for mapping products that offer content beyond roads and restaurants; the usefulness of the device where the road ends is Navionics’ strength. We offer unique, hard-to-find marine and outdoor data that consumers want.

Navionics’ Wareham MA facility produces products such as HotMaps Premium digital lake fishing maps for use in a wide variety of electronic chartplotters by leading manufacturers such as Eagle, Furuno, Humminbird, Lowrance, Murphy, Northstar and Raymarine. Navionics also produces Navionics HotMaps Explorer, 10,000 detailed lake fishing maps on DVD for the home PC, a powerful planning tool with the ability to transfer waypoints and overlay Google Earth.
