Walleye Capital of the World!

The BIG fish are active and the walleye fishing is on FIRE!!  Reports of charter boats catching 100 fish are common.  One boat caught 40 fish over 28 inches!!  Most anglers are anchored up and jigging in the Rainy River and 4 Mile Bay.  Gold, glow and chartreuse have been hot jigs with a frozen shiner.  Most fish had just spawned.  The Rainy River did not disappoint.

The northern pike have turned on in Zippel Bay.  Multiple trophy pike over 40″ caught.  The go to method is dead bait, a cisco or smelt on a quick strike rig under a bobber.  Fish are even being caught off of the docks.

We anticipate the lake ice will go off this week, but only mother nature will determine that.  This is an unbelievable opportunity for a “Fish of a Lifetime”.  For lodging, try our lodging availability request form.  Enter your contact info, how many in your group, dates, and what part of the lake you wish to stay.  This message is emailed to resorts/hotels and the properties with openings will contact you back.  This will be an incredible week of fishing at Lake of the Woods!

Big Pike are in Bays
Now is the time for Trophy Pike

Timing is everything.  Because of our late Spring, the big pike are now out of the creeks and into the bays.  Yes, they are eating well and this is a great time to catch a Pike of a lifetime.

Without flying to some northern part of Canada on a remote lake, there is no where else that offers quality pike fishing like Lake of the Woods.  This week is the week if you are looking for concentrations of Big Pike in the bays.

Zippel Bay, 4 Mile Bay and tributaries leading into the Rainy River are the places to begin.  Most anglers are having success on dead bait, or basically, a dead smelt or cisco on a quick strike rig under a bobber.  Fun fishing.  Please practice good catch and release techniques with these monsters.
