Tick, tick, tick. You know the feeling. That’s Mr. Walleye calling. And if you can’t feel that first hint of a mouth full of teeth on a lure like a Moonshine Shiver Minnow, chances he’ll shut the door on you. That’s why you need the best tools in your fishing toolbox, an ultra-sensitive rod like those made by Fox River Lures and Rods.

And while you’re outfitting your boat with those, Anglers Avenue Pro Shop of Sheboygan, Wisconsin has for everything else you’d need for the season, from custom-painted crankbaits, to trolling gear, rods and more. Those three also are sponsors of the 2019 AIM Weekend Walleye Series.

“Like our other partner-sponsors, these three have proven track records. Teams using their gear have won our tournaments, and fish them, and that’s about the best endorsement any tackle maker or retailer can have,” said Denny Fox, AIM national tournament director. “And like the others, they believe in what we’re doing, preserving the resource, and spotlighting great fishing opportunities across the Midwest, with our Catch-Record-Release™ format.”

Fox River offers 11 spinning and casting rods for walleye, including a dedicated seven-foot, 10-inch troller. Bass rods include nine different casting rods, and four spinners.

And as they did last year, Fox River is renewing its special deal for AIM anglers. Any team placing first, second or third in an AIM tournament using a Fox River Lures and Rods stick will win an extra $300 in cash for a first-place finish, and $100 each for second and third.

AIM’s official scoring photo SD card must show the first fish the team catches, with a team member clearly shown holding a Fox River Rod.

Teams who used a Fox River rod in last season’s AIM tournaments swore by their extreme sensitivity to feel the bite, and “cross their eyes” on the ‘eyes when they did. And AIM’s 2017 Team Of The Year, Jeff Neuchterlein and Jeff Foster, used Fox River rods to do it.

“We achieved a great following through AIM, and it’s a great thing to be a part of this group,” said Chuck DeVito, Fox River Rods owner.

Anglers Avenue began as a salmon trolling specialty shop, and has morphed into walleye as well, with walls covered with walleye tackle. Owner Russell Gahagan is an avid walleye angler and fully believes in the AIM way to fish tournaments.

“I truly appreciate the format that’s so good for conservation, and the fact that it’s a weekend series. The average angler with a full-time job can be competitive by pre-fishing Saturday and competing Sunday,” Gahagan said.

Moonshine Shiver Minnows jig/glide baits also helped at least one team win big time last season, and its list of pros on staff reads like a history of walleye fishing, with their tips on how to use this little fish magnet also at Moonshine’s website offering you free advice on where and when to flip, glide, fish big dropoffs, or even troll them, making them one of the most versatile lures that should be in your tacklebox.
