National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) members Cody Lauer (#930) and Josh Olson (#682) presented a fishing clinic for kids on Saturday, July 19th, during the South Dakota Governor’s Cup held at Spring Creek Resort, in Pierre, SD. There were 27 kids who participated in the clinic. Topics that were covered include; knot tying, bait presentations, open-face and spinning reels, casting, and boat safety. The seminar ended with the Aquatic Invasive Species’ (AIS) message of “Clean, Drain, Dry” to help preserve fishing for future generations. Kids who helped by baiting hooks and retrieving throw-able life preservers during the presentation were rewarded with hats and crank baits.

At the conclusion of the clinic, each kid was excited to receive a free fishing rod donated by Runnings and a t-shirt donated by the NPAA and their sponsors. Cody and Josh had a great time sharing their passion and knowledge for fishing with the kids. Both NPAA presenters agreed that they like to put on clinics like these in order to educate kids about fishing, and to give fishing gear to young anglers.

Cody and Josh would like to thank the sponsors for their support in helping to grow the great sport of fishing. Sponsors include: NPAA and their sponsors, Runnings, The Fishing Crew, Little Bend RV Park, ProFINatic, Lowrance, and Warrior Lures.

Through this workshop and others like it, we are ensuring the future of fishing for many more generations to come.
