Wisconsin resident and NPAA #352 Darren Jacobson was recently invited to join the National Skeeter Boats/Yamaha Outboard National Pro Fishing Team.  Decades of marketing coupled with extensive fishing tackle and marine sales experience landed him in a Skeeter FX 21 powered by a Yamaha V-MAX 250 SHO for the 2011 season.  “I’m honored,” he said.

“This is the perfect rig for Green Bay (he lives on the Bay in Peshtigo, Wisconsin), and it serves as the most stable platform when on rivers, big and small lakes and reservoirs where I travel,” he said.  He was especially complimentary of Skeeter for building the FX model around the industry leading Yamaha V-MAX 250 SHO 4-stroke outboard.  “It will be a great change from my 2-stroke outboards,” he said.  Fishing has been a life-long passion for Jacobson, currently the northern factory account manager for Strike King Lure Company.

He has sold at retail and national account levels, including many years for a major fishing tackle rep firm.  Early in his career, he was physically building boats and adding his fishability expertise to boat design.   Jacobson adds to the national Skeeter/Yamaha team with his marketing experience and the ability to communicate product benefits and features to consumers.  He also understands and listens to the needs of end users and takes this information back to Strike King and other companies.  He is also affiliated with A.R.E. Truck Caps, Quantum rods and reels, Navionics, Vicious Fishing and RayJus Outdoor.

Jacobson also owns Angling Promotions, a marketing and promotions company.  The website anglingpromotions.com features stories, advice, photos and news from “his” companies.  The widely diverse company handles product design, consultation, marketing, consumer and retail events, sport shows, boat rigging tips, youth fishing schools and photography.  He shoots numerous photos for the outdoor and sporting industries, and said, “I look at subjects from the eyes of a person who knows the water.”

“It will be easy to promote Skeeter, and I can’t wait for open water to feel the surge of the 250 SHO and experience the performance of my new ride,” Jacobson said.
