Anglers Insight Marketing LLC (AIM™)will hold their inaugural Weekend Walleye Series tournament out of Winneconne, WI on Sunday, April 27th. Anglers will be competing on the historic Fox and Wolf Rivers, along with the lakes of the Winnebago system, such as Butte des Mortes, Winnebago, and Poygan.

According to Wisconsin tournament director Denny Fox, most of the fish are heading back downstream from their spawning marshes “The local biologist said the fish are about 85-90% spawned out. However, there is currently an emergency no wake restriction in effect on the river that will play a big factor on where teams will choose to fish.”

The no wake gamble is already weighing on the mind of Pete Petta of Tomahawk, WI who will be fishing the event with partner Dave Cooper of Schofield, WI. “I’m sure many teams will head out of Winneconne and go straight towards the Wolf River. However, with the emergency no wake law in effect, just how far up do you really want to go? It can be a real numbers game this time of year as the fish transition back down to the lakes. Getting on the right school of tournament winning fish in the river could prove to be a challenge.  If you are heading way up you will lose a lot of your actual fishing time, so you better be on some big fish.”

The series will showcase AIM’s revolutionary Catch-Record-Release (CRR) tournament format where anglers will measure, photograph, and immediately release all walleyes caught.

Brothers Steve and Dan Bodinger of Chilton, WI are veterans of the tournament scene and have fished as a team at the AIM Pro Challenge the past two years in Oconto.  Dan is excited to compete in another CRR event. “It’s simple and easy! Just put your fish on the ruler, take a picture and write it down! I love that all the fish live,” stated the younger brother. “I don’t have to worry about the fish in the live well and I don’t have to worry about keeping the right fish. It’s awesome being able to upgrade all day long.”

Teams can register for the event until 11:59pm April 23rd.  Boats will take off at 7:00am from Winneconne City Docks and return at 3:00pm. The awards ceremony will be at Critter’s at 4:30pm.

Teams will be ranked by their best five fish. A twelve inch minimum applies.
