Big muskie caught on Otter in Eagle River, WI on 6/23/2017

My family and I spent a weeks vacation in Eagle River and on Friday afternoon, my 2 daughters, my wife, and I went out for one last short fishing trip. My 2 son-in-laws stayed back at the condo to watch over the babies. While my youngest daughter Stephanie and my wife Vicki fished for perch and blue gills, Brooke wanted to try for a "monster". It was an odd request as she has never fished for a Musky before and the biggest fish she has ever caught is a Door County smallmouth bass. After a quick lesson on how to retrieve the bucktail so it would work properly, Brooke was on her own so I could assist the other 2 ladies with their fish. After only a few casts, Brooke hollered out that she had one on, we all thought she was pulling a fast one on us until we could see the fight she was in! With no net and after the Musky had fought itself out, I was able to get ahold of it and bring it into the boat. After a few photos and a quick measurement, we successfully released the Musky to fight another day! Most of the event was caught on video by Stephanie and it is so much fun to go back and watch how excited we all were as Brooke fought this Musky. This was the very first time Brooke ever fished for Musky and she really only put a few good casts into it. She really did get to catch her "monster", and it is an event that our family will never forget! The guys back at the condo could not believe their eyes as we sent photos and video back to them. It would be a great surprise to Brooke for her to be able to have her "monster" replica to help rememeber the one time she went Musky fishing! Thanks!
