MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) — One area event is looking to build a new development with the help from an ice fishing jamboree.

The annual fishing contest is held on Half Moon Lake Boat Landing each year, and this year marks the 38th annual event.

It’s put on by the Mosinee Area Action Club or MAAC, who work to serve the people in the Mosinee area by using their time, talent and resources to benefit the areas quality of life.

The tournament will begin with registration at 7 a.m. on Feb. 2 and the event will run until 3 p.m. that day.

Proceeds raised from the event will go towards multiple different programs like the Ronald McDonald House and Clothes for Needy Kids, but this year they’re also raising for a new river park development.

The development is known as the river park shelter project, where construction will be mostly completed by volunteers.

The shelter will add a lot to the park in the upcoming years.
