Whitewater Fishing adds the Beacon ¼ Zip Shirt based on pro staff and customer demand
MUSKEGON, MI (February 19, 2026) – Whitewater Fishing introduced the Beacon Technical Hoodie in
2024. Since, the robust and purposeful midweight hoodie has become a mainstay for anglers across
North America. Earning consistent 5-Star reviews, there haven’t been any bigtime suggestions about
enhancing the hoodie.
We have, however, been asked to add a similar top, but one without a hood. So, we’re pleased to
introduce the new Beacon ¼ Zip Shirt.
“It’s a layering thing,” suggested Whitewater Fishing Merchandise Manager, Doug Veldhuizen. “They
wanted Beacon performance, but without a hood, so you wouldn’t have stacked hoods after putting on
rainwear.”
Maintaining the “fabric first” mindset, Whitewater stuck with the same ultra-soft, 4-way stretch, and
breathable 288g polyester fabric as the hoodie. The premium material features finer and more uniform
fibers than comparable garments, resulting in a smoother, softer, and more comfortable wearing fabric.
The premium grade polyester also boasts excellent colorfastness and resistance to wear, tear, and
abrasion.
Internally, the Beacon ¼ Zip Shirt is fleece lined to deliver warmth and a superior feel against your skin.
The ¼ zipper feature also means the shirt goes on and off with ease. Moreover, by unzipping, you can
quickly dump unwanted heat.
Construction-wise, a Lycra-bound collar and cuffs provide next-to-skin comfort, as do the Beacon’s
flatlock seam assembly. And you’ll be certain to appreciate the shirt’s handy zippered chest pocket.
Veldhuizen put a bow on it by mentioning the Beacon’s fashion-forward appeal. “It’s worth noting that
the Beacon ¼ Zip is cool looking, too. Definitely a piece you keep on and wear to the pub or restaurant
when you come to dock.”
