Even without Falcon Lake on the schedule, the upcoming Bassmaster Elite Series season has its’ share of promised slugfests, and the pros are already making predictions on where the biggest 5-fish limits will be bagged.

“Amistad or Guntersville should be awesome,” said Mike Iaconelli.  “We’ll hit Amistad just perfect for the big bass to be shallow and catchable, and even though Guntersville gets an insane amount of angling pressure, we’ll still have to catch 20 pounds a day to make a good showing there, it’s just an amazing fishery.” Dave Wolak also named Amistad.  “Amistad will be the best chance to catch a truly giant bag of fish,” said the 2005 Toyota Tundra Rookie of the Year.

Swindle also chose Guntersville, one of lakes he cut his bass fishing teeth on, as his top pick.  Scroggins agreed with Swindle on Guntersville, but both VanDam and Scroggins also put Kentucky Lake in the running for a slugfest.  “Kentucky Lake is quite possibly better staged to deliver overall success than any other lake we’ll go to based on the time of year, and the prominent patterns that will work to catch big ones when we are going to be there,” said VanDam.

But what if the roles were reversed? What if the largemouth were asked where they could most likely find the Team Toyota Tundra pros eating? Wolak wishes Lake Champlain were still on the schedule because he always eats at The Butcher Block in Plattsburgh, NY. “Great steaks and a salad bar that features everything you could ever ask for.  I eat there just about every night when I’m fishing Champlain,” said Wolak.

However, steak aside, Wolak also shares a love of sushi with KVD and Scroggins.  “You can be sure that we’re going to seek-out some fresh sushi just about everywhere the trail takes us,” said Scroggins.  But count Swindle out when the group heads for the local sushi bar.  “I’d rather eat a bucket of toenails than to dip raw fish in soy sauce.  You can find me at the Waffle House instead,” said The G-Man.
