Keith Combs, the 2016 Bassmaster Angler of the Year (AOY) runner-up has been a consistent performer on the Bassmaster Elite Series for several years. The Texas angler is almost always a threat to win on every body of water he’s fishing a tournament.

So, what does one of the best in the biz do during his downtime in the post-season? Well, he fishes, of course. But he also takes on the challenge of challenges. Yes, Keith Combs bellied up to the bar and took a straight shot of Three Questions from BassFIRST. Hopefully he’ll recover by the time the Elite Series season starts next February.

DL – Do you prefer college or pro football?

KC – I like pro football. We are so busy throughout the year in our business I don’t have time to follow a lot of sports teams. Football season fits well with our downtime.

I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. I’m not a Tony Romo fan. When he was playing, I stopped going to the games. I told my friends I wasn’t going to go anymore until he was done. Now that he’s out, there is hope.

DL – What do you see yourself doing in 20 years?

KC – I’d like to be involved with the fishing industry. Not necessarily fishing pro tournaments anymore. My friends are all in the industry. I’d be happy doing just about anything in it.

I really do enjoy guiding. I could see myself doing that again. Just as long as it involves bass fishing, it’ll be fun.

DL – Do you prefer beer or soda pop?

KC – I like a cold beer once in a while. Usually with dinner. But I’m more of a soda guy.

I like Coke Zero. It’s the one I drink. Nothing too extravagant.
