Berkley pro Brandon Palaniuk experienced his best season to date fishing the Bassmaster Elite Series. Sure, in the past he’s won events, but 2015 found Palaniuk finishing 10th overall in the Angler of the Year standings. His personal best.

So, what does one of the top pros in all of competitive fishing do during the off-season? He answers Three Questions from BassFIRST.com on his way to hunt deer. Duh!

DL – What is your favorite sport, besides fishing?

BP – Wrestling. I loved wrestling. It was a great mental and physical challenge. All of the preparation it takes. The amount of work to be good is amazing.

I loved that with the simple act of working harder and being in better physical shape than your opponent that could propel you to a win 75% of the time.

You’re competing against a wild creature in fishing. In wrestling, it’s just one-on-one with another wrestler. I miss that.

DL – What is your favorite vacation spot?

BP – I can’t really say one location. I can say it is somewhere in the mountains during September elk hunting. For me, that is the ideal vacation. Bull elk hunting during the rut.

DL – Do you prefer steaks or dessert?

BP – I am a steak guy. Not big on sugary stuff. I could eat half a cow before I would down a candy bar.

Give me a ribeye. I know they are a little fattier, but I am partial to the flavor of a chunky ribeye.
