Yep, only a month to go and the 2017 Bassmaster Elite Series season will begin. Should be a real humdinger this year with plenty of variety. Of course, the Bassmaster Classic taking place after the 2017 regular season has started is odd, considering it’s supposed to be a championship for the previous year.

Anyway, moving on.

Jason Christie (Joel Shangle/BassFIRST)

So, if you are into fantasy leagues, predicting, or just some good old hot stove chat etc., Mark Zona and BassFIRST have come up with a few names to keep your eyes on this season. These anglers may just be the top dogs of the 2017 season.

Jordan Lee

“Jordan Lee is one to watch for sure,” said Zona. “He’s truly one of the most grounded and well-rounded young anglers on planet Earth.”

Keith Combs (Joel Shangle/BassFIRST)

Greg Hackney

“Hackney will seek revenge for his hiccup in 2016,” says Zona. “The Bassmaster Elite Series schedule lines up nicely for his revenge.”

Jason Christie

“He’s just scary, scary good,” said Zona. “He seems to always be looming. A very ominous presence.”

Keith Combs

This guy finished second in the Angler of the Year (AOY) race in 2016. Look for him to make a run at it once again. Combs is an angler who just seems as though the AOY title will eventually be on his mantle.

Jacob Wheeler

Wheeler is brand new to the Elite Series, but he’s already a proven big game player. He’s won the BFL All American and the FLW championship aka the Forrest Wood Cup. Oh yeah, he also won the first BASSfest a few years back, so he’s already proven he can defeat the Elites.

It’s gonna be an exciting year.
