Right now Bassmaster Elite Series pro Travis Manson is a maybe for the 2013 season. Finding sponsor assistance is the issue, as it is for so many of the Elite pros. As of today, Travis is fifty-fifty on competing in the Elites next season.

“I have no final decision yet,” said Manson. “Right now I am crunching numbers. It’s looking good and it’s not looking good all at the same time. I am waiting on two sponsors.

“Last year I forked out a lot of my own money. I figured, if you are one of the few who can cash a check at each event, without a win, you make $80,000, but it costs minimally $65,000 to fish. That’s not enough to live on. If I have to pay for myself again I need to reconsider.”

Right now Manson is in advertising sales for Wisconsin Resource Guides, www.wiscoguides.com. He may consider sticking with sales and pursuing smaller events, if the financial well runs dry.

“If I can’t get funded I may take a year off,” said Manson. “I may drop the 10k and fish that new World Series of Bass. I just don’t know right now. Without cash sponsors, paying a total 40-to 50-thousand dollars, I’m not sure if it will make sense to keep going.”
