Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance®, a world-leading brand in fishing electronics since 1957, once again confirmed its No.1 position among America’s fishing-tournament professionals, following Lowrance Pro Edwin Evers’ 2016 Bassmaster® Classic Championship performance. In the three-day event held on Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees, Oklahoma last weekend, Evers came from behind in dramatic fashion by catching a 30-pound, five-fish limit on the last day to take the overall lead and win the title by more than 10 pounds.

This was the fifth consecutive year in which a Lowrance angler has won the Bassmaster Classic title. Including Evers’ championship, five of the top 10 finishers were Lowrance Pro Team Anglers, and 11 of the top 25 also used Lowrance HDS fishfinder/chartplotters. In the 55-competitor field, more than 55 percent used Lowrance electronics.

Evers used a set of HDS-12 Gen3 fishfinder/chartplotters to identify shallow, fish-holding areas by using the enhanced side-scanning range and clarity of StructureScan® 3D. Evers said StructureScan 3D was the key to targeting the best shallow-water on Grand Lake.

“Finding submerged logs and shoreline ‘cuts’ in shallow areas 3 to 5 feet deep was my focus,” Evers said. “More importantly, I wanted to identify those areas before I moved in closer to fish them. With the longer range and clearer images of side-scanning sonar on StructureScan 3D, I was able to quickly pinpoint those key spots. That’s where I focused my casts, and that’s where I caught the fish that won the Classic.”
